a new poem from an old memory long ago recalled

Stopping Long Enough to Lean 'gainst a Tree

There's experience in a tree ring
It knows where it's been
It knows what it's seen
I'm not as lived in as that tree darling

I'm young but daily-a-growing
Not yet thirty
Happy & balding
So allow me to rest awhile
on this rock and gravel path
And hopefully when I stand
I will have something important to say

Hey, great to see a new poem from you, Barnyard. Looking forward to Saturday?!?!?

By the way: you're not so old, friend (unless you're secretly a highlander!)
